Carl E. Verble 1930 2008

ANNA - Carl E. Verble, 77, of Fortville, Ind., formerly of Anna, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, in Fortville.
Carl was born March 5, 1930, in Anna to the late Loel and Agnes (Ledbetter) Verble.
He had natural athletic abilities, excelling in football, basketball and tennis.
He continued to hold IHSA Boys Football all-time individual records at the time of his passing.
After moving to Indianapolis in 1955, Carl, known for his honesty and integrity, was a great Midwest commercial developer and chairman of the Board of North American Roofing Systems, Inc.
He was a member of the original Hoosier Lottery Commission and was named a Sagamore of the Wabash in 1977 by Governor Bayh.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane (Boyd) Verble; sons, Patrick Verble and Michael Verble and wife, Kathy; a daughter, Jane Kay Thomas and husband, Bill; brothers, Loel Verble Jr. and wife, Joyce, and Donald Verble and wife, Janet; sister, Jean Cauble and husband, Bill; six grandchildren, Brian Verble, Todd Verble, Katie Saurer, Patrick Thomas, Kristen Thomas and Janie K. Thomas; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday, Jan. 5, 2008, in Crown Hill Funeral Home.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
