
ANNA - Doris Rose Houghlan Davis, 73, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in Union County Hospital in Anna.
Doris was born the youngest of seven children to John E. and Verna Edmonds Houghlan on Oct. 11, 1933.
She married Charles O. Davis on March 8, 1958, in Anna.
He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1974.
Doris was a devoted mother to her children, Tom Davis and wife, Kim Audrey, of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Nancy Ann Davis of Anna.
Her four grandchildren, whom she was most proud of, are Thomas Charles, Brooke Mackenzie, Natsha Nicole Rose and Daniel Thomas Davis.
She is also survived by a sister, JoAnn Keller and husband, Jim, of Makanda; a sister-in-law, Joyce Verble and husband, Loel Jr., of Anna; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles O. Davis; a brother, John "Red" Houghlan; and sisters, Hattie Houghlan, Dorothy Henard, Helen Anderson and Rachel Dodson.
She was a member of Anna United Methodist Church.
Doris spent her adult life at Mulberry Manor in Anna, providing loving care to the developmentally handicapped who were less fortunate.
She will be deeply missed by family, loved ones and friends alike.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, in Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, with Jimmy Keller officiating.
Burial will be in Anna Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Anna United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Doris graduated with the Anna Jonesboro Community High School Class of 1952.
She was a cheer leader and very active in High School.
