
Billy Ray Dalton, 66, of Anna, died at 11:21 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2006, at home.
He was born March 29, 1940, in Pulley's Mill, the son of Robert W. and Alberta Madge (Rogers) Dalton.
He married Patricia Marie "Pattie" McMurray Dec. 26, 1991 in Murphysboro.
He was a very kind, tender, friendly and loving person who was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved his family very much and his dog, Dollie Jo.
He enjoyed listening to music and going to NASCAR races in Talladega with his friends Charlie and Jimmy.
He was employed as a mechanic at Southern Illinois University Travel Service for 40 years.
He retired in Jan. 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Patti Dalton of Anna; three children, Brian Keith Dalton of Carbondale, Tina Marie Dalton of Anna and Kacey Marie Dalton of Cobden; four granddaughters, Ashley Peeler, Cassandra Robertson, Jessica Shipley and Krystin Skye Dalton Gibson; one brother, Rodger Dale Dalton of Anna; two sisters, Betty Loyd of Carterville and Jo Rion of Anna; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wesley Dalton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna with Brother Adell Anderson Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006, in the funeral home.
He attended Davie Grade School and Anna Jonesboro Community High School and graduated with the Class of 58.
