
Donald R. DeWitt, son of John A. and Bessie Lorene Harvel DeWitt, was born on Aug. 21, 1941, in Mill Creek and died Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 57 years.
Donald married Rosemary Higgins in Springfield on Dec. 26, 1966.
He was a former partner in Hillside Terrace Home in Cobden until retirement.
He was a member of National Rifle Association, Egyptian Rifle and Pistol Club in Carterville, Illinois Stat Rifle Association and was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden.
Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his wife Rosemary of Cobden; two sons, Richard DeWitt of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Michael DeWitt of Cobden; one grandson, Shane DeWitt; two sisters and brother-in-law, Gail DeWitt of Cobden and Joann and Don Lisch of Anna; his mother-in-law, Beatrice Higgins of Springfield; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Margaret Ann Higgins Harris of Springfield; cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, March 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cobden with Father Federico Higuera officiating.
Interment was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Cobden.
Hileman 7 Parr Funeral Services in Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
