
Paul James "Jim" Groner, 67, of Brookfield, Conn., formerly of Marion and Anna, devoted husband of Lee (Burnett) Groner, died peacefully Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, in Danbury Hospital with his family at his side after a brief, but courageous, battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 16, 1942, in Anna, the son of Paul F. and Alice (Dugan) Groner.
Jim was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and worked at Maytag in Herrin.
Jim and Lee retired to Connecticut in 2002 to enjoy watching their grandchildren grow.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Lee; his daughter, Cheryl Oberndorfer and her husband, Kyle, of Brookfield, Conn.; his son, Todd Groner Kopriva and his wife Sandy, of Seattle; and his three cherished grandchildren, BJ, Devin and Karlee Oberndorfer; and his nephew, Gary Rothschild of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim played football at A J and was active in class events.
