Raymond Eugene Johns
1944 - 2008

ANNA - Raymond Eugene Johns, 64, departed this world at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, to be with the Lord.
He was born Jan. 14, 1944, in Grand Tower, the second son of Jesse and Grace Walker Johns.
Raymond is survived by his siblings and their spouses who will miss him dearly, Jesse Lee and Kim Johns of Clinton, Marion Parmly of Mount Vernon, Ralph Johns of Anna, Linda and Gary Faire of Jonesboro, Lonnie and Linda Johns of Wolf Lake, Stella and Rodney Plott of Anna, Pamla Johns of Cape Girardeau, Patsy and Jack Evans of Jonesboro, Sheila and Edward Plott of Anna, Mark Johns of Jonesboro and Maxine and Don Brimm of Anna; 32 nieces and nephews; 34 great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts; uncles; and many cousins.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and a great-nephew.
Raymond graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1962 and proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967.
He was a proud Vietnam veteran.
Raymond moved to Taylorville and worked at Firestone in Decatur before becoming disabled.
He had a small farm and enjoyed raising a variety of animals and always had the best garden in town.
In 1993, he moved back to Southern Illinois to be closer to his family.
He has resided the last nine years and 10 months at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Gary Loyd officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
