Gilbert Ralph Nimmo, age 65, of Jonesboro, IL died Friday, June 11, 2010 at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born on July 2, 1944 in Union County, IL to Gilbert and Martha (Hileman) Nimmo.
He married Carolyn Smith in September 1972. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1999.
He married Sandra Stanley on March 12, 2005. She survives him.
He was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church. He graduated from AJCHS in 1962.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He worked for many years at Bunny Bread in Anna and later worked as a sales clerk at WalMart in Cape Girardeau.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Jonesboro; 1 stepson, Brian (Sara) Russell of Cape Girardeau, MO; 1 stepdaughter, Tammy (Brandon) Rhoads of Benton, IL; 2 stepgrandsons, Duncan Rhoads of Benton and Wyatt Rhoads of Cape Girardeau, MO; 1 step granddaughter, Madalaine Russell of Cape Girardeau, MO; 2 sisters, Jane Nimmo and Joyce (Roger) Plott, both of Anna; 3 nephews, Chris (Stacey) Plott, Lyle (Stephanie) Plott and Jon Plott, all of Anna; 2 aunts, Doris (Logan) Johnson of Peoria and Anita Nimmo of Anna; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by previous wife, Carolyn and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Crain Funeral Home, Anna-Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Crain Funeral Home, Anna-Jonesboro with Pastor Mark Roath officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery with military honors by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455, VFW and the Illinois National Guard Honors Unit.
