
LICK CREEK - Maxwell Lee Carter, 62, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, in Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 13, 1946, in Anna, to Fred and Esta (Manus) Carter.
He graduated from AJCHS and Draughn's Business College.
He worked for accounting and credit companies and owned and operated Carter Accounting in Anna from 1972 through 1984.
He became a partner in Anna-Jonesboro Motor Company for four years.
He had been comptroller for Reppert Enterprises for the past 20 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Amateur Trapshooters Association.
As a young man, he was a baseball player.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and shooting.
He is survived by his fianc?e, Susan Steck of Cobden; son, K. W. Carter and friend, Tammy Wheaton of Makanda; three brothers, Wendell Carter and wife, Mabel, of Jonesboro, Don Carter of Lick Creek and Gordon Carter of Costa Mesa, Calif.; sister, Susie Kessler and husband, Bob, of Anna; and cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008, in Crain Funeral Home in Anna, with Kim Capel officiating.
Burial will be in McGinnis Cemetery.>br>
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
